There is an expression in Puerto Rico to compare people to the Yagurmo Tree, specifically to its leafs. Although typically used in a negative connotation, this idea of the leaf having two different colored sides but being of the same object was reminiscent of many things associated with this project. From the abstract of culture and political beliefs, to the physicality of walls and floors, this notion of the dichotomy but being of the same entity is what the Puerto Ricans live with.
